"UrbanMinimal" – is a series of works that breathe life into the essence of Melbourne's urban tapestry. With a blend of hard-edge and minimalism, Alex has captured the intricacies, from the lines to the palette of colors, all extracted from the panoramic canvas of Melbourne's modern architecture. Through this interplay of artistic elements, he delved deep into the core of society and the environment.

This minimalist artwork incorporates sharp red and orange lines to symbolise urban heat islands and the urban environment's role in global warming. It draws attention to the connection between cityscapes and climate change, urging contemplation on our collective responsibility for environmental stewardship.
Born from a futuristic and minimalist aesthetic this work contains colours and shapes that represent our future in the vision of the artist. The amorphous black background represents the bleak chaos of today’s deforestation, global warming and environmental imbalance. The green represents the forests and future generations. The green rises from the black, self-organising into a complex, regenerative and harmonious symbiosis between human society and the environment. The interwoven green lines represent a regenerative flow between the forests and society, each nurturing one another. The gears of human civilisation and forest ecosystems are interlocked and turn together.

This colourful work plays with the trickery of optics. The reflection, refraction and dispersion of light can both illuminate and obscure. Colour bursts out from white light due to minute changes in the angles of different wavelengths. The piece is inspired by the hard corners and bouncing lights of a metropolis.
